This guy kinda reminds me of a homeless person. Sitting on the sidewalk in the not-so-nice part of town. Manayunk is a great place to eat, shop and of course shoot but this hydrant is on the edge of the nice town.

January 15, 2010Fire Hydrant Friday: Greenville, SC
January 8, 2010Yes another one from Greenville, I guess that’s what happens when you go to college there. We all look in the mirror in the morning so why shouldn’t a hydrant get to?

As I “reflect” back on last year I can see a lot of growth in our business and photography. This make me super excited for this year. One of the things we are doing is launching a new web site, soon. (yes for those of you that have followed us from the beginning this is design number 4). We are doing this to provide better features to brides and portrait customers. More to come on this in the near future.
Ben & Brittney :: Engaged
January 7, 2010Here they are, as promised… a little late, but hey, better late than never right? Brittney and Ben are no longer engaged, they are married!! Woo hoo! We did a quick shoot for our friends the week before their wedding due to all of our crazy schedules and I think we got some really great shots. It was super cold so we were juggling coats and scarves to try to keep them warm in between each shot. I was really excited to shoot in Phoenixville, it has such a cute downtown area that is really growing!
Love Brittney’s ring! It looks even better now with her custom designed, by her hubby, wedding band!

Ok, how cute are these two? I will tell you, super cute!

Love the shoes Brit! I will tell you, I was surprised when I saw you wearing them! But they were a great choice!

I saw this mural and I had to have it. I love geography and I love maps so this shot had to happen!

Love, love, love this old movie theater. The minute we asked Brittney and Ben to go sit over there a movie let out and there were people everywhere! We had to wait a few minutes but I think we got a pretty cute shot!

Love this last one. They just seem so peaceful together! Remember this moment guys, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, remember the quiet moments together!

So, that was a quick look at our quick shoot of Brittney and Ben!
Have a great week, it’s almost Friday!

That ‘Ah ha’ Moment
January 4, 2010So, I don’t know what you did the weekend of the big snow storm (December 19, 2009), but I know what I did. I was in a wedding. Yep, not shooting it, in it. It was my first bridesmaid experience and it will be one to remember! It was a crazy day for a wedding, but as crazy as it was, it was just as wonderful! I will show you the now married couples engagement pictures that we took a few weeks before the weeding soon, but first I want to tell you about an experience I had at my good friends wedding.
I was jealous of the photographer.
After getting all gussied up, hair (burning my forehead), my make-up, Brit’s make-up, dress, shoes (high heels kill me), I trekked with Brittney (the bride) while she wore my boots with her dress, out into the snow with her soon to be hubby for some pictures.
I watched as the photographer (Danielle Hopkins) told Brit and Ben a few pointers before heading out on what to do in front of the camera and once we were outside I watched as she grabbed some great shots of the happy couple in the snow. It was a winter wonderland with a bride and groom who were willing to go out into the snow.
In that moment I was jealous. I wanted to be the one getting those shots. I wanted to be the one directing the bride and groom in the picture-esq scene. And let me clear this up, Danielle did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to see the shots she got, that is not why I was jealous.
Right then I had that ‘ah ha’ moment. I realized the reason I am having this feeling is because wedding photography is what I am supposed to do. Weddings are my thing. I am a hopeless romantic, tearing at the vows, cheering at the big kiss, trying to dance at the reception (trying, because a.) Michael won’t let me and b.) I am not that great of a dancer so any attempt is really just trying). And photography is my thing. I love capturing all the special moments between a dad and his little girl on her big day, all the details that she has wonderfully orchestrated, and all the celebrating over the new Mr. and Mrs. How lucky am I that there is a career that combines the two? Well, let me tell you, I am so lucky! Lucky isn’t even the word, the word is blessed. I am blessed to have the talent I have to do what I love. God is good.
So, if you are engaged and looking for a photographer for your wedding, let me tell you, I would be honored to capture the special moments your bid day. We have a few weddings booked for 2010 already so if this is your year to get hitched, contact us! We would really love to work with you!
And since every post is better with a picture, here is one of the lovely bride and me!

I promise (really… I do…) to get Brit and Ben’s engagement pictures up soon! We have been busy with two weddings this past week and both holidays in there too it was a crazy week! Anyway, that is a terrible excuse! More blogging to come, along with those engagement pictures, we have 2 weddings, fire hydrant Fridays, and my 365 weekly updates… still thinking of a catchy name for that to go along with a day of the week… let me know if you think of anything!
Happy New Year!

Fire Hydrant Friday: Greenville, SC
January 1, 2010This guy has had quite the life. He is now left all alone in a field to rust away. With this new year we have a chance to prevent that from happening in our own lives as well as in the lives of others. I saw The Blind Side the other night and it was such a vivid reminder about putting myself aside and to take notice of those in need. Happy New Year! Let this picture be a reminder of those in need.
