Great Deal

March 18, 2009

There is a great deal going on right now for digital camera memory. SanDisk is offering a mail-in rebate on their Extreme III and Extreme IV memory cards. The more that you order (up to three) the more you save. Why am I blogging about this, well two reasons: 1. It is Wednesday and I have nothing else to write about and 2. I ordered 3 cards for the price of one from B&H and they came yesterday! With the new D300 we got we are going to need extra space. So the three 4GB cards that we ordered will help with space tremendously.

Also I frequent CraigsList for various deals that I can find. Last night I was on there and found that someone cashed in on this awesome deal but is now selling 2 of his “new, sealed in box” memory cards the only thing missing is the UPC. This really irked me. He also lied and said that they retailed for $72 each.  So please do not take this information that I posted and resell them, it is a waste of time and just not right. Hope you have a great Wednesday.

And a nice shot of Lindsay riding in the early morning fog.

Fabulosity

March 16, 2009

I realized today that I never posted about the album company we decided to provide to our brides. But before I tell you let me tell you a story.

The package that my wife and I chose for our own wedding was a perfect fit for us. We chose a company that provided a photographer and then did all the rest through a consultant. Our photographer was wonderful but the company  (which will remain unnamed) has not been. We started our album design process, through them, in September (2008). To make a long story short we still do not have our album—in case you were wondering it is March 16, 2009 and that makes it approximately 6 months since we started the process. Last week, our FIFTH consultant finally agreed to grant a full refund of our album, parent albums, and print credit.

SO over the weekend I completely redesigned our album and sent it off the the wonderful company we chose to provide to our own brides. They emailed me and said that the album is due to ship on April 3rd (three weeks from today, hmmm 6 months and nothing compared to three weeks?)! That fabulous album company is KISS wedding books.

(Some of you may remember the post “Album decisions and photographer friends.” The picture featured in that post is an image of a KISS book.)

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

Smith Photo Studios has chosen an album company to provide to their brides. KISS wedding books has been selected because of their beautiful leather, simplicity, and fast turn around time. SPS loves KISS books so much that they bought one for their own wedding album.

And here is a sample spread from our very own book.

We are so happy to announce a new member to our family. I know by that statement many of you are probably thinking that Lindsay is pregnant, well she is not. We got a new camera! We just received in the mail yesterday a Nikon D300. It is amazing and beautiful. This is a camera we have been looking at for a little while now and found a great deal on it. So here is our new teammate:

Marchiano Wedding

March 10, 2009

On Saturday we shot a wedding here in our hometown. We were blessed with a beautiful day for March, 60 degrees! It was an awesome event that was full of fun and laughter. The bride and groom were great and made our job easy. I know that many people are waiting for this post so I decided to post more pictures than normal and also carry a theme throughout. The theme is…. drumrollllll……. Why 2 photographers are better than 1. As you look through this post I will point out many moments that are taken from two perspectives. The best thing about this theme is that this is included in every wedding we photograph. But enough talking here are the pictures.

Two photographers can:

Shoot both bride and groom getting ready.

Marchiano Sneak Peek

March 9, 2009

Here is one shot from the wedding we shot on Saturday. It was so much fun and very warm for March in PA. More to come later this week. We also had a great time on Friday night meeting another photographer and looking at albums. We will also blog in the future about what album company we are going to use. Have a great Monday!
