Hello again! Blogging two days in a row… I know you are starting to get excited! Well, this is an exciting post so I am glad you are already excited!

As you can see from the title of the post, my sister is engaged, and since this is so late in getting on the blog, she is also already married! But those pictures will be up in the near future! So, Randy (my sister’s man) set up a whole evening at the ball park (The Allentown Iron Pigs) for him and Casey. Randy had secretly set up to have us all at the park, me (Lindsay), Michael, my parents, Casey’s daughter Katelin, Randy’s parents, and Randy’s daughter Kaylyn. (Yes, they now have daughters Katelin and Kaylyn… and they have the same birthday… weird…glad I don’t live in that house… it is confusing enough when they all come to visit!) Anyway, Randy had also arranged for the ‘Kiss Cam’ to come over to him and Casey in between the 3rd and 4th innings. But instead of it being the ‘Kiss Cam’ it said ‘Will you marry me?’ How cute is that! So, Casey and Randy got engaged on June 4th and married on July 10th! A 5 week engagement! We had a blast planning her wedding and I can’t wait to show you all of those pictures too! On to the ‘engagement pictures’!

My cute parents!

There it is on the big screen! It is a little hard to see but it says “Casey, will you marry me?”

She said yes!!

I don’t remember exactly what this says, something about Casey and Randy and happiness…

Then we watched some great fireworks… that we like to think were for Casey and Randy’s engagement… and we are going to keep thinking that! haha

Sadie

June 9, 2010

Dear Blog Readers- I would love to introduce you to our little girl. Her name is Sadie and she is all warm and cuddly. Ok- truthfully, she is only cuddly when she is half asleep but we love her anyway!

If you have been following us for over a year, you may remember this post about how much I wanted a puppy. Well, in late march of this year, right before Michael’s birthday to be exact, we welcomed this little girl into our home and she has been a blast from day one! These pictures are from when she was 3 and a half months old, I will post newer ones soon, she has grown so much in the past few months!

Michael likes to say that her name came from the Reliant K song, Sadie Hawkins Dance but I am not sure if I am willing to admit to that, although it is really cute when Michael sings that song to her! haha I really thought Sadie was going to be an original name, but after telling people the name we picked, it turns out it is more popular than we thought! Oh well, we still love it and it fits her!

This is one of my favorites of Sadie, she is so curious, and if you look closely you can see that her one eye is blue!

Sadie-33

Here she is sitting on the sofa with her favorite toys. For about a month and a half we could keep her on the sofa because she was too scared to jump down. Not anymore. She is a great jumper now and loves to jump on and off the sofa when ever she pleases. I think this is kinda like when your baby learns to crawl. All of a sudden she wouldn’t stay where I put her!

Sadie-27

This is about the only time that we can get her to be still, unless she is sleeping.

Love this last one of Sadie and Michael. This was right after her first bath at our house. Ugh. She is so cute I can’t stand it sometimes!!

So, I finally got my puppy and I love her soooo much! She is a doll, and already house trained at 6 months! What more can I ask for? We are so excited, in a few weeks we are having our pictures taken by April Ziegler a fabulous photographer who also has a Boston Terrier! Michael got me the pictures for our anniversary and I can’t wait to see them and they aren’t even taken yet! I know April will do a fantastic job, make sure to check out her work!

Anyway, that is Sadie, I know you were all waiting to meet her! I will post new pictures soon, she will officially turn 6 months on June 19 so maybe I will post them then!

Have a great Wednesday!

That ‘Ah ha’ Moment

January 4, 2010

So, I don’t know what you did the weekend of the big snow storm (December 19, 2009), but I know what I did. I was in a wedding. Yep, not shooting it, in it. It was my first bridesmaid experience and it will be one to remember! It was a crazy day for a wedding, but as crazy as it was, it was just as wonderful! I will show you the now married couples engagement pictures that we took a few weeks before the weeding soon, but first I want to tell you about an experience I had at my good friends wedding.

I was jealous of the photographer.

After getting all gussied up, hair (burning my forehead), my make-up, Brit’s make-up, dress, shoes (high heels kill me), I trekked with Brittney (the bride) while she wore my boots with her dress, out into the snow with her soon to be hubby for some pictures.

I watched as the photographer (Danielle Hopkins) told Brit and Ben a few pointers before heading out on what to do in front of the camera and once we were outside I watched as she grabbed some great shots of the happy couple in the snow. It was a winter wonderland with a bride and groom who were willing to go out into the snow.

In that moment I was jealous. I wanted to be the one getting those shots. I wanted to be the one directing the bride and groom in the picture-esq scene. And let me clear this up, Danielle did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to see the shots she got, that is not why I was jealous.

Right then I had that ‘ah ha’ moment. I realized the reason I am having this feeling is because wedding photography is what I am supposed to do. Weddings are my thing. I am a hopeless romantic, tearing at the vows, cheering at the big kiss, trying to dance at the reception (trying, because a.) Michael won’t let me and b.) I am not that great of a dancer so any attempt is really just trying). And photography is my thing. I love capturing all the special moments between a dad and his little girl on her big day, all the details that she has wonderfully orchestrated, and all the celebrating over the new Mr. and Mrs.  How lucky am I that there is a career that combines the two? Well, let me tell you, I am so lucky! Lucky isn’t even the word, the word is blessed. I am blessed to have the talent I have to do what I love. God is good.

So, if you are engaged and looking for a photographer for your wedding, let me tell you, I would be honored to capture the special moments your bid day. We have a few weddings booked for 2010 already so if this is your year to get hitched, contact us! We would really love to work with you!

And since every post is better with a picture, here is one of the lovely bride and me!

britandme2

I promise (really… I do…) to get Brit and Ben’s engagement pictures up soon! We have been busy with two weddings this past week and both holidays in there too it was a crazy week! Anyway, that is a terrible excuse! More blogging to come, along with those engagement pictures, we have 2 weddings, fire hydrant Fridays, and my 365 weekly updates… still thinking of a catchy name for that to go along with a day of the week… let me know if you think of anything!

Happy New Year!

Who are we?

November 8, 2009

Well some of you may have noticed some pretty changes to the header of our blog. But more importantly the more observant folks may have noticed the logo and URL change. (If not check it out now and just act like you knew!)

I have taken marketing and I realize that a name or logo change can be extremely detrimental to a business. However we thought that it was necessary to clarify what we are and more importantly what we are not. So “Smith Photo Studios” was the old name, well we do not have a studio so that was inaccurate and we definitely don’t have more than one studio! So in order to simplify everything we are calling ourselves The Smiths. Most people know us as that anyway so why not just call ourselves that?

What does this mean for you? Nothing really. We still own smithphotostudios.com and so if you type that in it will take you to our site. But the new official URL is thesmithspictures.com. I hope this makes it easier for everyone!

In case you missed it we are now:

THE SMITHS

Have a great week and pass the word along to anyone who may wonder. And because this post will be so much better with a picture here is one of the favorites that got over looked from the Landon wedding.

He “done” did it!

May 12, 2009

That’s right, he did it, he’s done! In case you don’t know, Michael graduated from college this past weekend! I couldn’t be more proud of him and his big accomplishment (surviving 4 years qualifies as a big accomplishment if you ask me!)

We spent the day Saturday at good old Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. The commencement ceremony was good, not too long, could have been shorter, not gonna lie to you… But it was great! We got to see some friends from when we lived there and reminice about “old times” (6 months ago.)

And since every post is better with a picture, here is one from graduation…

photo

I took this with my iPhone (first try I might add… if you have an iPhone, you know how hard that is) so sorry if the quality is a little low.

This was our first of three consecutive trips to the south in the next 3 weeks. Crazy traveling time for the Smiths! This wednesday we leave for  Raleigh and Winston Salem, North Carolina  for business meetings Thursday (Michael is techincally a business man now that he has graduated) and a wedding on Saturday! Then, Memorial Day weekend we are headed back to Greenville and Atlanta for another wedding and bridal shoot! So, if you can’t find us in the next few weeks, we are most likley south of the Mason Dixon Line!

Have a great week, ttyl Internet.

(yes, I just pulled out ttyl, it seemed fitting, hope you enjoyed that trow back, it is making me LOL!)
