Koechig Wedding

June 8, 2010

Whoa! I have been such a bad blogger! It has been forever since we have blogged a wedding around here! Well, that is no longer the case! I would like to welcome to this blog, the new Bob and Mallory Koechig. Bob and Mallory got hitched a few weeks ago and they had the most perfect day! We had tons of sunshine, wind, and time to take some great pictures of these two!

On to the pictures!

I love this one of Mallory and her mom, getting all laced up!Koechig_BLog-1

Bob and Mallory- you two were naturals in front of the camera! I think my favorite may be the one on the right!

Bob and Mallory had a trolley to take them and the bridal party to the reception. We had a blast riding around town. Well, I had fun, Michael had to drive the car. We made a pit-stop at Wa-wa and we got to see some of Bob’s excellent dancing moves, but Bob, you owe me, I will refrain myself from posting them for everyone to see!

When we got to the Radisson, we took some photos of the whole bridal party out in front of the hotel! It was a tad too sunny, there are a few great out-takes though! But I will just show you the good ones here!

While we were doing that outside, Michael was inside getting some great detail shots of the reception hall! Are you kidding me with that carpet! I have never seen anything that nice in a reception venue! Love it!Koechig blog 13

Bob and Mallory, I hope you had a great day at your wedding, I know Michael and I did. Michael has told me a few times that he felt like he fit right in with the guys, I think he even had a facebook friend request from Bob before the wedding was over! Anyway, I am sure you guys had a blast on your honeymoon, the pictures looked great and we hope to see you soon!

Lots coming on the blog soon! 2 families, 1 wedding, and hopefully 1 dog! I need to tell you all about our little girl Sadie!

Have a great week! I know we are, we are celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and my birthday! Woo hoo!

Contest

November 19, 2009

We are currently running a contest over at Facebook. Since our recent name change we have to delete our old fan page and create a new one. And for fear of losing fans we are running an incentive. If you become a fan and comment on a picture in one of the albums you will be entered to win a $15 iTunes gift card. The contest will expire at midnight EST tomorrow, Friday, November 19th. So follow this link, become a fan and tell us which picture is your favorite and why.

Inspiration

July 13, 2009

If you actually visit our blog instead of using an RSS feeder to view it, you may have noticed a change in the look of our blog. I hope you like it better now. This will allow you to look up specific categories as well as allow us to make the pictures bigger. In keeping with the new idea I thought that an explanation post would be appropriate.

Have you ever wondered, “What on earth is their logo?” Most of you probably thought it was just a neat set of lines. Well you are kinda right and it may have started out that way but here is the real story.

We need to start out by saying that I greatly admire the work of many photographers, however my favorite of all time is Ansel Adams. Now, everyone has probably seen some picture that he took but do you own his books? Okay some of you may own his picture books but what about the ones that he wrote on photography and the camera? I am the proud owner of THOSE books. In fact when I was in high school I even tried to copy his work (you can decide if my attempt created a successful image):

(Ansel’s is obviously the one on the left)

This love of photography carried over to college and when I got there I chose to be a photography minor. With that minor we had to take many classes about a wide variety of cameras and also develop our own black and white pictures. I then understood why Ansel Adams was so great. Yeah anyone can take a b&w picture of a mountain or flower, right? Well not only did Adams use a much more complicated camera, he also developed and printed his own pictures to get the perfect contrast. Adams used a large format camera. This allows the user to tilt, rotate or shift the lens plane or the film plane in many directions to get the shot. I will leave it at that so I don’t lose you but just take my word for it, it’s complicated (and don’t pull the wrong lever because that releases the lens and they break easily, whoops). So if you are not familiar with Adams or the large format camera here is a picture reference for you.

So what does all this have to do with our logo? Well look at a large format camera right next to our logo, do you see it now?

LFcamera

Yup, based on a large format camera (and inspiration from the light graphics at a Mannheim Steamroller concert) we came up with our logo!

Leave a comment and tell us what you thought it was when you first saw it.

Have a great Monday!

That is right folks today I got the email letting me know that Lindsay and I were featured on The Bokeh Pot.

In a nutshell, The Bokeh Pot was created to serve as a directory and event resource for the up-and-coming photographers of the wedding and portrait industry.

We were so excited to hear about this and can’t wait to keep on shooting. There is a bunch more coming your way from this past weekend we just have to find the time to post it. Have a great Wednesday!

Disapperances and voila

April 6, 2009

Many of you may be wondering where on earth did we go. For about 4 weeks we were successful at posting 3 times per week then on March 18th it ended. It is not that I don’t have a lot to post but I just haven’t made it my priority. So here is a post to get my mind back in the blogging mood.

To update you on the busyness that we call life, recently Lindsay and I have bought a new car, finished up a 13-week Total Money Makeover program by the great Dave Ramsey, and continued to photograph with our new camera. I would recommend any of those three things but I would mostly recommend the Ramsey program. We have learned so many wonderful things from that class that I cannot begin to thank Dave enough. My favorite lesson came last night, the last lesson of the series. It was all about giving. I want to become a better giver!

So here is what I am going to do (my wife doesn’t even know about this but she will when she reads this) I want to offer a free family session to someone who really could use it. If you know someone in the Philadelphia area who could really use a free family portrait session, that will include prints, please leave a comment here. If you don’t know someone personally but know people from this area please pass this post along. I am really looking forward to this opportunity and I encourage everyone to give to someone who has less than you. Whether it is money, time, or a service this world needs to see the love of God through others.

In the next couple of weeks some of the new posts will include: pictures of our new album, pictures of our new car, two baby/family sessions, and much more. Have a great Monday!
